Your privacy matters to us. Chronicle is published by Creative Expressions Collective LLC, and we’ve tried to keep what we collect to the minimum needed to run the app well. Here’s the full picture.
The short version
- You don’t create an account with us to use Chronicle.
- We collect app usage and crash data to keep the app working and improve it.
- We use RevenueCat to manage your one-time purchase — we never see your card details.
- We don’t show ads, and we don’t sell your personal information.
- Optional cloud sync stores your progress in your own iCloud or Google Drive.
Who we are & scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Creative Expressions Collective LLC, a single-member limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA (“Creative Expressions,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Chronicle mobile application and related services (the “App”).
The App does not require you to create an account with us, and we do not operate user accounts or hold login credentials. This policy does not cover the practices of third parties such as Apple, Google, or RevenueCat, which maintain their own privacy policies (see Section 12).
Information we collect
Information you provide to us
If you email us — for example, for support — we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and any information you choose to include.
Usage & analytics information
We use an analytics service (Google Firebase Analytics) to understand how the App is used so we can improve it. This may include the features and stories you open, how often and how long you use the App, your app version, device type and model, operating-system version, language and region settings, and app-generated identifiers. We do not collect your precise GPS location.
Crash & diagnostic information
We use a crash-reporting tool (Google Firebase Crashlytics) that collects diagnostic data when the App encounters a problem, such as crash logs, the state of the App at the time of the error, device model, and operating-system version. This helps us find and fix bugs.
Purchase information
Chronicle offers a one-time in-app purchase. Your payment is processed by Apple or Google, and we never receive your full payment-card details. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage your purchase and to restore it across your devices. Through RevenueCat we receive information such as purchase events, app-store transaction identifiers, whether you have unlocked the content (your entitlement), an anonymized app-user identifier, and basic device information.
Push-notification information
If you grant permission, your device’s operating system provides a push token that allows us to send you notifications (for example, announcements about new content). You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Cloud sync data (iCloud / Google Drive)
The App can sync your in-app data — such as your reading progress — to your own Apple iCloud or Google Drive account. That data is stored in your personal cloud account, under Apple’s or Google’s control, and we do not have access to it. Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies govern how they handle it.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- operate, maintain, and provide the App and its features;
- validate, manage, and restore your one-time purchase;
- detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs;
- understand how the App is used so we can improve content and features;
- send push notifications that you have enabled;
- respond to your support requests and communicate with you;
- protect the App and our users and prevent misuse or abuse;
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases to process your information:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the App and to process and restore your purchase;
- Your consent — for push notifications, and for analytics and diagnostics where consent is required;
- Our legitimate interests — to improve, maintain, and secure the App, balanced against your rights and freedoms;
- Legal obligation — where we must process information to comply with the law.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time — for example, by turning off notifications or by adjusting analytics permissions in your device settings.
Notifications & your choices
- Push notifications: turn them off at any time in your device’s notification settings.
- Analytics & diagnostics: you can limit or reset your device’s advertising identifier and adjust the tracking and diagnostics settings offered by your operating system.
- Cloud sync: you can choose not to enable iCloud or Google Drive sync, or disable it in the App or your device settings.
- Email: you can stop emailing us at any time; we only respond to messages you send.
Data retention
We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, after which we delete or anonymize it. Analytics and crash data are retained in line with the default retention settings of our providers. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and our records. Purchase records are retained as needed to provide and restore your purchase and to meet legal and accounting requirements.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Chronicle is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@creativeexpressionscollective.co, and we will take reasonable steps to delete it. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise children’s use of the App.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port it, and to object to or restrict certain processing or withdraw consent.
California residents. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended), and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, access, delete, and correct your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Because we do not operate accounts, much of the information we hold is tied to device or app identifiers rather than to your name. To help us locate the relevant information when you make a request, please include helpful details when you contact us. We will respond as required by applicable law. EEA/UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.
International users
We are based in the United States, and the information we process may be stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Third-party services
The App relies on services provided by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Your in-app purchases and any optional cloud sync are governed by those companies’ own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their policies:
- Apple — see Apple’s privacy policy.
- Google — see Google’s privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — see RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
This Privacy Policy works alongside our Terms & Conditions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide notice within the App where appropriate. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
